That's a great idea. Today I needed to translate something in latin. Keep the digital world in sync with old eras. Nice one.

Good, this is one of the things we have been waiting for.

Another is that you don't always default to SPANISH - default to the language of the IP or even better let people set the damn default language.

    Thanks.

    Lector scriptoribus suis:

    in hoc
"...Latina difficile est et intellegamus grammatica..."
si intellegatur scilicet nec iubetur intelligere, "intelligimus" dicendum, non "intelligamus".

    Valete perenne.

Yeah, I know the Latin suggestion came up in the forum at least every week. I'm nonetheless hurt that you added Latin before Esperanto ;-)

This post has raised a question on the Latin Wikipedia about what the "official" Latin name for Google is (if any). The Latin front page says 'Explorare Googles ope', so people have been using Google, -es (Greek first declension), but now they're pointing to 'in Libris Googlis' in this post and calling it third declension (or postulating an adjective 'Googlus, -a, -um').

I don't suppose we could get further light on that?

Too bad that the "pronunciation" link uses the Roman Catholic pronunciation, not the classical one!

Wonderful. Next step should be adding a native American language (Quechua) and an artificial language (Esperanto). I bet you can do it soon.

I am REALLY waiting for the moment when tranlation will not be executed thru english.

I mean if you translate from non-english to non-englisg (e.g norwegian to hungarian) then first it translates to english then to norwegian.

This way the probability of a translation error increases.

    This is great.

However, I have a website that really needs this functionality, but whenever I try to embed a Google Translate Gadget into my website, Latin is NOT included in the drop down list of available languages to translate from :(

Can anyone point me to a solution? I want to achieve an embedded Google Translator, already set up to translate from Latin to English, (so I do not need From and To buttons, only a Translate button).

I echo the sentiment expressed above about adding Esperanto (which is not, by the way, an artificial language, strictly speaking, since it contains numerous elements borrowed from pre-existing ethnic languages).

I think it's great that Google is now able to translate Latin sentences, as that is quite hard work!
If you are interested in an alternative translation (only Latin -> German) you might also try out gertradix.ch...

Any chance some day in the future we'll be able to see multiple translations concurrently?
For example, being able to put English text in and seeing the results in Latin and Greek.
    Thanks!
Also, big fan of the Latin Alpha. Seriously. makes my job a LOT easier.

The deal was brokered following complaints by two staff members about the way they were treated.

One employee, engineer Kevin Cernekee, said he was fired in June 2018 because of his political views. Google said it let him go because he downloaded confidential material to a USB drive and broke other internal policies.

Details about the other complaint that Live Stream prompted the Board to investigate have not been released.

Staff at Google staged a walkout Live and other protests in late 2018 following revelations about the way it handled accusations of misconduct, including sexual harassment, by senior staff.

The protests led Google to rewrite its internal policies, end forced arbitration of cases and won a promise that it would be more transparent about investigations.

Many of those involved in the protests said they suffered retaliation following the walkout. Google has denied taking any action against protesting staff.

Google's internal policies and the way it handles staff relations were exposed to scrutiny in 2017 following Dlive its treatment of engineer James Damore.

Mr Damore wrote a memo suggesting genetic differences between men and women explained gender imbalances in the tech world.
